  • 1. Tell me your keyboard.

Make, model, and the length you want in millimetres. Pick 13 mm or 19 mm for the height.

  • 2. I cut it to your length.

On my bench in Utah, to your number. Not the nearest size on a chart.

  • 3. It fits, or I re-cut it free.

    No argument, no restocking fee.

Most wrist rests are made for a keyboard nobody owns.

Somewhere there's a hypothetical keyboard that every mass-produced wrist rest was designed around. You don't own it. Neither does anybody else.

So you've bought three. The foam one flattened by March. The wood one turned out to be a plank with a nice finish. The third sits a few millimetres too low, and you've reached the stage of not noticing that you notice it, every day, for hours.

You picked your board down to the switches. Almost fits is still settling.

What you're actually buying

Cut to your numbers, not a size chart. You give me a length in millimetres and the board it's going in front of. That's what gets cut.

Two heights, so the front edge lines up. 13 mm for low-profile boards, 19 mm for standard ones. A rest should sit 1 to 2 mm under your board's front edge, so your hands run onto the keys instead of climbing up to them.

Solid cork the whole way through. Not foam with a cork wrapper. Cut one in half and it's cork in the middle, which is why it doesn't sink into a permanent dent shaped like your wrist.

Non-skid feet included. Bare cork slides on a bare desk. The feet fix that.

Made by me, in Utah. One person, one bench. Your order is a thing I physically make, which is also why I can change it.

Made to order, so give it a few days. It ships within 5 business days. If you need something on your desk tomorrow, grab a stock size and I won't be offended.

The Love Your Desk Guarantee. If you don't love it, I pay for the return shipping. Details below.

Which height, and how to measure

Look at your board from the side. The number that matters is the height of the front edge, the lip nearest you, measured from the desk up. A ruler stood on the desk gets you close enough. Then pick the height 1 to 2 mm under that number.

Your board's front edgeHeight to order
About 14 to 16 mm13 mm (½")
About 17 to 19 mmSend me the number and I'll tell you which
About 20 to 22 mm19 mm (¾")

I don't stock a taller height yet. Tell me your board and its number, and it goes straight into deciding what I cut next.

Boards I've measured myself

BoardFront edgeWhat to order
Keychron Q1120 mm19 mm. Sits 1 mm under, right where it should.
Keychron Q11 Ultra27 mmNot yet. 19 mm sits 8 mm low.
Keychron HE23 mm19 mm sits 4 mm low. Ask me first.
Full-height Keychron (Q, V, C)22 to 25 mmAsk me first.
NuPhy Air 75 v329 mmNot yet.

The Q11 and the Q11 Ultra are 7 mm apart. Plenty of listings, including one of mine until recently, sell them the same rest. That's the kind of thing this page exists to stop.

Length

Match your board's width, or go an inch wider on each side if you like support past the edges. One buyer put it better than I can: "the extra inch on either side is perfect for using the number and ctrl keys without your wrist falling off." Up to 457 mm (18").

Split boards

This page cuts a single rest. For a split board, my split pairs come in standard and low-profile heights. Need a split length they don't cover? Send me your board.

The Love Your Desk Guarantee

Cut to your board's real length. The number you give me, not the one a size chart assumed.

If it doesn't fit, I re-cut it free. Send it back, tell me what's off, and I make the right one.

If you don't love it, return it within 30 days. I pay for the return shipping.

Made by me, in Utah. So there's a person to email, and it's the same person who cut it.

Close up making of custom cork wrist rest in the shop

I milled the first one for myself.

Twenty years at a computer against film deadlines. 100-hour weeks. Six years on a single film, going over every pixel.

I bought wrist rests. The foam ones flattened. I threw one away the day the lights came up in a dark office and I finally saw how flat it had gotten.

I also build furniture. I know what a block of wood feels like under your wrist, and it isn't comfort.

So I milled a piece of cork for my own desk, then kept simplifying it until I stopped noticing it was there. That's the whole product. The goal hasn't changed, except now the length is yours instead of mine.

I own a Keychron Q11 and a V3, and they need different rests. Tell me yours.

Send me your board

Softer than wood. Firmer than gel.

A customer said it better than any spec sheet: "Softer than wood or epoxy, harder than gels and silicone. Great middleground."

Another one: "My other wrist rests are wood and then one that's K9, and after using them for a long time you do feel the stiffness start to bother your wrist. The cork is firm but somehow softer than the wood, I can use it longer without the fatigue."

Foam gives, then keeps giving, then stops coming back. Gel moves under you. Wood and resin don't move at all, which sounds supportive until hour six. Cork sits between them and stays there. It's the Birkenstock for your wrist: a little unglamorous at first, then very hard to give up.

What it's made of: solid Portuguese cork, from bark that regrows on the same tree, agglomerated in the USA. Finished with a plant-based oil and wax: no mineral oil, no VOCs, no plastic skin to peel.

Questions

How do I measure my keyboard's height?

Stand a ruler on your desk against the front edge of the board, the lip closest to you, and read where the top of that edge lands. Order the height 1 to 2 mm under it.

How do I measure the length?

Measure your board side to side in millimetres. Match it, or add up to 25 mm on each side if you want support past the edges. The maximum is 457 mm (18 inches).

What if I measure wrong?

I re-cut it free. That's also why I ask for your board model as well as your number, so I can catch a mismatch before I cut, not after.

How long does it take?

It's cut after you order and ships within 5 business days. If a stock size already fits your board, that one ships sooner.

Will it slide around?

Not with the feet on. Bare cork on a bare desk does slide, which is why non-skid feet come with every rest.

Do you make them for split keyboards?

This page cuts a single rest. My split pairs are their own listings, in standard and low-profile heights. If neither length fits your board, send me your board and I'll sort it out.

My board is taller than 22 mm. Can you help?

Send me your board and its front-edge number. I don't stock a taller height yet, and every board I hear about goes into deciding what I cut next.

Is this different from your stock sizes?

Same cork, same bench. The difference is that the length is yours. If a stock size already matches your board, buy that one; it's cheaper.

What if I just don't like it?

Return it within 30 days and I pay for the return shipping. That's the Love Your Desk Guarantee.
